The First Graphic Novel I Ever Wrote: "The Civil War A-B-C Book" By Theodore Nicholas Hood

Someday this will sell for MILLIONS of dollars on ebay. The early work of an EISNER AWARD WINNING CREATIVE GENIUS WHEN HE WAS A CHILD GENIUS. Well, it probably won't go down like that, but who knows? Either way, I thought it'd be neat to share some of my old work. This was done in 5th grade as part of an assignment for Mr. Dwyer; who was an awesome. awesome teacher. I would have been 11 years old, so that was 14 (!) years ago. Either way, I rocked out on this, got a pretty good grade, and to this day, it ain't so bad. Of course, neither my hand writing nor my art has evolved since then, in fact it has likely gotten worse, but every person I show this too gets a good chuckle out of it, and, I do too. It's hilarious. Here's a sample:

The Cover. I ripped off the warning at the bottom from Captain Underpants :) #goodartistssteal

My rendition of Abraham Lincoln. Check out that sick thunderbolt from the heavens.

My depiction of Bull Run. I drew some wicked violent battle scenes. I'm surprised they didn't put me in the special ed classes for this.

Frederick F***ing Douglass.

This is just awesome. Note the smart usage of black and white.

I had my limitations however. Apparently I couldn't pull off drawing the state of Texas, when there was likely plenty of maps available at John Muir Elementary. Even Mr. Dwyer saw through my bullshit.

Such epic storytelling on display.

Back cover. TFBI Warning! I think that stood for "Ted Federal Bureau Of Investigation" but i'm not quite sure. Watch out. Also: "Ted Hood Productions" hahahahha

I hope this made someone laugh.
